KU may start PG diploma in instrumentation technology

 

 

Srinagar, May 13: The Vice-Chancellor Kashmir University evinced keen interest in starting a post-graduate diploma in Instrumentation Technology during his visit to the University Science and Instrumentation Centre (USIC) and Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC). Appreciating the efforts  by USIC to develop entrepreneurship culture in  Kashmir, Vice-Chancellor said that he will keenly study the   proposal of the director for starting  a one-year PG Diploma in Instrumentation Technology (PDIT) course at USIC.  

Director USIC, Prof. Ghulam Mohiuddin Bhat in his presentation informed the VC  that students will not have to go to outside Kashmir for the course on instrumentation.  He said the pass-outs of the course can establish their own SSI units for fabrication, maintenance of electronic, electrical, scientific and bio-medical instruments. 

The job market is also wide open for such trained PG Diploma holders in government and private sector, in R & D institutions, educational institutions, laboratories, hospitals, and industry. He said the pass-outs will have a high placement opportunity. 

The Vice-Chancellor Prof Riyaz Punjabi was impressed by the activities of EDC for establishing a platform for inventors and innovators of Kashmir and propagating entrepreneurial culture in Kashmir. 

The efforts of EDC will go along way to mitigate unemployment problems in the state, said VC as he asked the EDC management at KU to extensively organize awareness camps and workshops for acquainting the qualified unemployed youth about opportune areas of entrepreneurship development in J&K. 

The VC at the occasion said that the other related government machinery including Department of Industries, NABARD, SIDCO, J&K Department of Science & Technology, funding agencies etc. should co-operate with EDC and extend their support for the economic growth of the state. 

The VC was also apprised about the basic functioning and activities of USIC and EDC through a power point presentation by Director USIC Prof. Ghulam Mohiuddin Bhat.
